Eric Chaisson, Ph.D. Esalen CTR Conference Affiliation(s): Evolutionary Theory Eric J. Chaisson, Ph.D., is Director of the H. Dudley Wright Center for Innovative Science Education at Tufts University, where he is also Research Professor of Physics and Astronomy and Research Professor of Education. He is also an Associate of the Harvard College Observatory, where he teaches introductory astrophysics, and Co-director of the Massachusetts Space Grant Consortium, based at MIT. His major research interests are currently twofold: His scientific research focuses on a thermodynamic study of physical and biological phenomena, thereby searching for underlying common features as clues to the origins and evolution of material systems throughout the Universe. His educational research involves working with experienced teachers and computer animators to discover better ways and novel curricula to enthuse teachers and instruct students in all aspects of science, mathematics and engineering. He currently teaches an undergraduate course at Harvard University on the subject of cosmic evolution. His books include Cosmic Dawn (1981), The Life Era (1987), and Cosmic Evolution (2001).
