Ellen Suckiel, Ph.D. Esalen CTR Conference Affiliation(s): volution Ellen Kappy Suckiel is Professor of Philosophy at the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she has taught since 1973. Her publications include The Pragmatic Philosophy of William James (Notre Dame, 1982) and Heaven‚s Champion: William James’s Philosophy of Religion (Notre Dame, 1996). She served as Provost of Kresge College, UCSC, in the 1980s. She teaches courses in ethical theory, character ethics, spirituality, bioethics, the ethics of genetic technologies, William James, and American Philosophy.
